WE ARE HOME FOR THE WEEKEND.

Home for the Weekend is an alternative prog-rock trio originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Derek Wiedmeyer (vocals), Nick Magestro (guitar), and Emmett Wood (drums) make use of a vast array of styles and influences to create a blend of rock music uniquely it’s own - melodic structures and harmonies reminiscent of 90’s alternative, a syncopated chaos synonymous with heavy rock acts of the early 2000’s, and a consistent willingness to bend and expand their style all make it difficult to pinpoint what exact genre Home for the Weekend’s music truly is.

This genre- and style-bending nature largely stems from the group’s early origins as a cover band, formed originally with Milwaukee artist Blacktop on bass; traveling across Wisconsin each year beginning in 2014, they would play from a catalog of their favorite songs at bars, festivals, and backyard parties – as the band increasingly honed their skills as musicians they began to experiment with original songwriting, with those new songs culminating in the group’s debut self-titled album “Home for the Weekend”, released in 2016. Noticeably self-recorded and raw, the album listens more like a live garage mixtape than a polished, radio-ready record. It was, however, a brash and unapologetic introduction to the local rock music scene in Milwaukee - they later followed it up with 2019’s “Flight of the Insomniac”, a single that pushed new boundaries for the group’s songwriting.

After a brief hiatus between 2020-2023, the group announced in 2025 the release of “Dead Man Walking” - the noticeably more polished, twelve-song album reintroduced the band as a more mature yet very much still experimentative force in the Milwaukee music scene.

Later following this up with the 2026 single “Fast”, these recent additions to the band’s catalog showcase their growth in both songwriting and DIY production, a stark contrast to the youthful naïveté of their earlier work.

Now paired with collaborator and Milwaukee bassist Emilio Gutierrez, Home for the Weekend has its sights set on emerging as a heavy-hitter in the Midwest indie music scene, and continuing to grow and evolve as recording artists.

Raw, militant, and unapologetic, "Fast" is inner frustration laid bare through drop-tuned riffs, seismic bass, and drums that hit like a punch to the chest. Equal parts reflection and revolt, "Fast" gets angry, shakes walls, and invites you not just to hear it, but to feel it.
